The fortress of Salses

The Fortress of Salses, just a few kilometers from Fitou and Leucate, is one of the spectacular buildings to be discovered next to Le Fun campsite. It was built by a Spanish architect, as it had previously belonged to the King of Spain before becoming the permanent property of France. The Fortress of Salses was built between 1497 and 1502 on its current site at Salses-le-Château. Today, it is a historic monument managed and maintained by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux.

The Historiades are always full of surprises and cultural experiences. The fortress of Salses is also home to music concerts featuring violins and cellos, as well as many other classical resonances that some ears will appreciate. The notes of Vivaldi, Mozart, Paganini and many other great figures will be interpreted by contemporary artists. Open-air activities and games are organized on certain occasions.
